This is a free sewing pattern for a mermaid skirt with a flared hem panel. Unlike straight-line mermaid skirt designs, this version features a hem switch (panel seam) that allows you to add extra volume and create a more dramatic silhouette.
The skirt is fitted through the hips and thighs, then flares out beautifully toward the hem, making it perfect for cosplay costumes, stage outfits, evening wear, or elegant casual looks. The pattern is drafted slightly shorter for a stylish finish, but you can easily lengthen it by adjusting the panel pieces to suit your preference.
For the best drape and shape, we recommend using fabrics with a soft drop, such as crepe, rayon, or medium-weight knit. Stiffer fabrics will give a more structured flare, while flowy fabrics will create a softer, romantic look.
After printing, align the sheets along the join lines, tape or glue them together, and cut out the pieces. Seam allowances (S/A) are already included, so the pattern can be used as is.
The production process is explained with translation software.
