This is a sewing pattern for a Cossack hat (Russian-style hat) with a straight cylindrical design, without ear flaps.
While traditional Cossack hats are usually shorter, this version has a longer crown, designed in response to a request for this length.
If you prefer a shorter style, you can modify the pattern yourself or request a dedicated shorter version.
The simple design makes it a great base pattern, but note that the lining and outer fabric patterns are drafted separately, resulting in a higher total piece count.
After printing, align and paste the pages along the matching lines, then cut along the pattern. Seam allowances are already included, so you can start sewing immediately.
(1) Apply stiff fusible interfacing to the top lining and side lining.
* For the hem of the side lining, fold the hem allowance 1 cm to the inside and keep the fabric lifted. This makes it easier to catch with blind stitching at the end.
* Use a hard type fusible interfacing, such as for bags.
(2) Sew the side lining into a loop, press the seam allowance open, and topstitch.
(3) Sew the top lining and side lining together.
(4) Sew the side fur into a loop and sew the top fur together.
(5) Place the hem of the side fur over the lining, fold the hem to the inside, and attach it to the lining with blind stitching.
