This is a sewing pattern for a chef hat (toque blanche), the traditional hat worn by professional chefs in Western cuisine.
We recommend using a lightweight fabric with firmness rather than thick material, as it will help the hat hold its shape beautifully.
If the fabric does not easily hold pleats, apply fabric glue or starch to keep them in place.
Suitable for beginners, this pattern can be used to create chef hats for cooking classes, culinary school uniforms, restaurant staff, cosplay costumes, or stage performances.
After printing, align and paste the pages along the matching lines, then cut along the pattern. Seam allowances are already included, so you can start sewing right away.
* If the fabric frays easily, finish the edges of the top and side first.
(1) Fold the lower edge of the side inward and press with an iron to shape it for easy attachment.
(2) Sew the lower edge of the side into a loop and press the seam allowance open with an iron.
(3) Fold the pleats of the side inward along the fold lines with an iron.
* If the folds are difficult to shape with an iron, use fabric glue or similar to hold them in place.
(4) Sew the side seams together and press the seam allowance open with an iron.
(5) Fold the side inward along the fold lines and press with an iron to shape.
(6) Fold the top along the fold lines with an iron, then sew it to the side.
(7) Sew while sandwiching the side into the lower edge of the side piece.
