Simple instructions are included on the pattern itself.
This pattern set includes four pieces: the head veil, slit dress, collar, and corset as shown in the illustration.
The main pattern is for the slit dress, so only the instructions for making the slit dress and the head veil are included.
The collar and corset are provided as reference patterns only, so please note that instructions are not included for those items.
The main slit dress features a distinctive design where the slit is positioned slightly toward the front, rather than the typical side slit often seen.
This unique style makes it a great base pattern for creating dresses with slits closer to the front.
The sleeve design is an original three-dimensional sleeve, different from standard sleeves and featuring a special construction.
After printing, please cut along the alignment lines and use the pieces. Seam allowances are already included, so you can use the pattern as-is.
I'm not very confident in my English, so all explanations and instructions were translated using AI. The translation may not be perfect, so I apologize if any parts are unclear or hard to follow.
This costume mainly features the slit dress and head veil. Please note that instructions for the collar and corset are not included.
The collar and corset are provided as reference patterns only.
How to Make the Slit Dress
(1) Apply fusible interfacing to the cuffs using an iron.
* If your front or back facing fabric is thin, add interfacing to those pieces as well.
(2) Sew the darts on the bodice and skirt pieces, then press them flat with an iron.
(3) Finish the edges of the front bodice, side front bodice, and back bodice at the shoulders and side seams. Sew them together and press the seam allowances open.
(4) Finish the side seams of the front and back skirt. Sew them together up to the slit point, then press the seam allowances open.
* Don’t finish the center back of the skirt yet.
* Pre-press the slit seam allowance and hem with an iron before moving on.
(5) Sew the bodice and skirt together. Finish the seam allowance and press it downward.
(6) Finish the center back seam of the bodice and skirt. Sew down to the zipper stop point and press the seam allowances open.
(7) Topstitch the slit edges and hem to hold the folds in place.
* If you prefer not to have visible stitching, you can use hem tape instead.
(8) Apply stay tape along the zipper opening and insert an invisible zipper.
* Use a thin-type 56 cm invisible zipper for best results.
(9) Join the facing pieces, finish the outer edge, and attach them to the bodice.
* Clip the curved seams before turning the facing right side out to help the fabric lay smoothly.
(10) Apply cotton fusible interfacing to the upper and lower sleeve pieces. Sew the darts and press them flat.
(11) Pre-fold the edge of the cuff (where it will be enclosed) using an iron to set the shape.
(12) Sew the side seams of the upper and lower sleeve pieces and the cuffs to form loops. Press all seam allowances open.
(13) Insert the lower sleeve into the cuff and sew them together.
(14) Attach the upper and lower sleeves together to form the finished 3D sleeve.
* To keep the shape clean, press the seam open and either topstitch or secure it by hand stitching.
(15) Attach the sleeves to the bodice and finish the raw edges of the armholes.
How to Make the Head Veil
(1) Apply fusible interfacing to the head veil belt using an iron.
(2) Finish the entire edge of the veil, fold in 1 cm with an iron, and topstitch.
* If you don’t want visible stitching, you can use hem tape for a clean finish.
(3) Fold the ends of the belt in, then fold the belt along the center crease so it’s ready to sandwich the veil.
(4) Turn the belt right side out, keeping the folded ends tucked in. Sew the sides closed and press to shape.
(5) Place the veil inside the folded belt and sew it in place, sandwiching the veil.
(6) Attach a snap button and a hair comb to finish.
* If you don’t have a comb, you can use hairpins instead.
