Hip huggers pleated skirt Sewing Patterns | DRCOS Patterns & How To Make

Simple sewing instructions are included in the pattern.

This is a very short pleated skirt pattern with five length adjustment options.

The longest finished length is 33.5 cm, but it is still designed as a mini skirt.

This skirt is worn low on the hips, so select the size according to your hip measurement rather than your waist measurement.

The pleats are drafted with a 3-degree flare so that the lines fall more cleanly than simple rectangular folds.

This is a wrap skirt, so no zipper or other opening is required. The buttons are decorative.

The skirt is easy to make if you can attach a hook and snap. Hook-and-loop tape may also be used instead.

You can also overlap the skirt more deeply at the waist to make it as a simple hip-hugging pleated skirt.

After printing, align the pages along the guide lines, paste them together, and cut out the pattern pieces. Seam allowances are included, so you can use the pattern as-is.

*Please press all sewn seams with an iron.

(1) Finish the raw edges along both sides of the skirt. Sew Skirt A, Skirt B, and Skirt C together, then press the seam allowances open with an iron.

How to Serge/overlock (sewing machine & overlock sewing machine)

(2) Finish the raw edge of the skirt hem. Fold the front side edge inward by 1 cm (0.5 in), the back side edge inward by 1 cm (0.5 in), and the hem upward by 1 cm (0.5 in). Press with an iron, then stitch them in place.

(3) Press the mountain folds and valley folds firmly with an iron to shape the pleats.

*Press from the wrong side of the fabric.

*If the fabric does not hold the pleats well, stitching along the valley folds may help stabilize the shape.

(4) Fold the pleats into shape, then baste across the upper edge 3 to 5 mm from the edge where the skirt will be inserted into the Belt.

(5) Apply fusible interfacing to the Belt. Fold both long edges inward by 1 cm (0.5 in), press with an iron, then fold the Belt along the center line.

*When folding along the center line, leave one side extending slightly farther than the other.

Preparation of belt section

(6) Sew the short ends of the Belt, turn them right side out, insert the skirt into the Belt, and stitch it in place.

(7) Attach the decorative buttons. Sew the hook and snap buttons to the wrong side.
