Simple instructions are included in the sewing pattern, making it easy for beginners to follow.
This is a sewing pattern and tutorial for a short-length sailor blouse with a slightly flared silhouette toward the hem.
The triangle tie shown in the illustration is not included in this pattern.
Please prepare decorative (dummy) buttons for the front design.
After printing, align the pages along the guide lines, tape them together, and cut them out before use. Seam allowances are already included, so the pattern can be used as it is.
(1) Finish the edges of the front (shoulder and side) of "Front bodice," both sides of "Front bodice side," and the shoulder and side of "Back bodice."
How to Serge/overlock (sewing machine & overlock sewing machine)
(2) Sew the front of "Front bodice" and "Front bodice side" together, then press the seam allowance open with an iron.
(3) Sew the shoulder and side of "Front bodice" to "Back bodice," then press the seam allowance open with an iron.
* Sew the side seam up to the slit position, then press the seam allowance open with an iron.
(4) Finish the edges of the hem and armhole, then fold them inward by 1cm (0.5in) and topstitch.
* Make small notches at sharp curves in the armhole so the fabric will lay flat.
(5) Apply interfacing to the back side of the "Collar."
* If you are using a firm fabric, this step may be skipped.
(6) Stitch the collar line on the right side of the "Collar."
(7) Fold the seam allowance around the neckline of the "Collar" inward by 1cm (0.5in) in advance to shape it.
* Make small notches in the seam allowance at sharp curves so the fabric will relax and sit smoothly.
(8) Sew the "Collar," turn it inside out, shape it with an iron, and attach it by sandwiching the "Body" between the collar pieces.
* The front edges of the "Collar" may not align perfectly. Lightly hand stitch the inside tips to stabilize the position and keep a clean finish.
(9) Attach dummy buttons at the button positions.
* If you are using fabric that is difficult to shape with an iron, use topstitching to hold the seams in place and create clean lines.
* When using lining, make the same pieces for the "Body," sew the hem together, and turn it inside out. In this case, fold the armhole inward by 1cm (0.5in) in advance and sew it with topstitching.
