This is a sewing pattern and tutorial for a simple short-length double-breasted vest with a tailored collar.
A lining pattern is included.
After printing, join the pages along the guide lines, then cut out the pattern pieces.
The pattern includes seam allowances and can be used as printed.
(1) Sew the Flaps and Pockets to the marked flap and pocket positions on the Front Bodice.
(2) Sew the center back seam, side seams, and shoulder seams of the outer fabric and lining. Press the seam allowances open.
* Make small cuts in the curved parts of the side seam allowances.
(3) Apply fusible interfacing to the Facing. Sew the Front Bodice lining and Front Facing together. Press the seam flat.
* Apply fusible interfacing for the lapel area to the outer fabric.
(4) Sew the Facing and Lining together. Press the seam allowances open.
* Make small cuts in the curved parts of the seam allowances.
(5) Fold the armhole seam allowances of the outer fabric and lining to the inside by 1 cm (0.5 in). Press with an iron.
(6) Sew the Under Collar to the Bodice and the Upper Collar to the Facing. Sew each part up to the collar matching position.
(7) Leave one opening at the indicated turning position. Sew around the outer edge and turn right side out. Close the opening and topstitch around the edge.
(8) Topstitch the armhole area.
(9) Make buttonholes on the side that will be on the outside.
(10) Sew buttons on the side that will be on the inside.
