This is a sewing pattern and tutorial for a front-button Chinese-style shirt with side slits.
The pattern is designed as a reference sewing pattern for cosplay costumes, but it can also be adapted for other projects.
Because the shirt has a slightly longer length, side slits are included for ease of movement and comfort.
Please adjust the button placement according to the size and width of the buttons you plan to use.
After printing, align the pages along the indicated join lines, tape them together, and cut out the pattern pieces. Seam allowances are already included, so the pattern can be used as-is.
(1) Apply fusible interfacing to the front placket and collar pieces. Sew them together with a sewing machine, turn right side out, and press with an iron.
(2) Apply interfacing to the facing pieces and finish the raw edges.
(3) Finish the raw edges of the following parts: the sides, shoulders, and hem of the front body; the sides, shoulders, back center, and hem of the back body; and the sleeve sides.
(4) Sew the back center of the back body together with a sewing machine, then press the seam allowance open with an iron.
(5) Sew the side seams of the body up to the slit position, and press the seam allowances open with an iron.
(6) Sew the shoulder seams of the body together and press the seam allowances open with an iron.
(7) Sew the sleeve seams, press the seam allowances open, finish the sleeve hems, fold the hem up 1 cm, and stitch with a sewing machine.
(8) Place the front placket between the front body and the facing, then sew it in place.
* Attach the front placket only on the left front side.
(9) Attach the sleeves to the body and finish the armhole seam allowances.
(10) Attach the collar to the body by sandwiching it between the layers.
(11) Stitch from the hem up around the slit area to secure the edges.
(12) Attach buttons at the marked button positions.
