This is a free sewing pattern and tutorial for a diagonal-opening China shirt with side slits.
This pattern is intended as a reference sewing pattern for cosplay costumes, stage costumes, and themed outfits.
We recommend using stretch fabrics such as stretch satin to achieve a smooth fit and a clean finish. Please adjust the button placement according to the width and size of the buttons you choose.
The facing is designed to be fastened with snap buttons. The shape of the facing and front opening is slightly unique, so it may take a moment to understand, but the overall construction is not especially difficult.
After printing, align the pages along the guide lines, tape or glue them together, and cut out the pattern pieces.
Seam allowances are already included in the pattern, so you can use it as-is and begin sewing immediately.
(1) Apply fusible interlining to the collar, sew the collar pieces together with a sewing machine, turn them right side out, and press with an iron.
(2) Apply fusible interlining to the facing, sew it together with a sewing machine, and finish the edges.
(3) Serge the side seams, shoulders, and hems of the front body, the side seams, shoulders, and hems of the back body, and the side seams of the sleeves.
(4) Sew the side seams of the body together up to the slit opening position, and press the seam allowances open with an iron.
(5) Sew the shoulder seams of the body together and press the seam allowances open with an iron.
(6) Sew the sleeve seams together and press the seam allowances open. Serge the sleeve hem, fold it up 1 cm, and stitch it in place with a sewing machine.
(7) Attach the sleeves to the body and finish the armhole edges.
(8) Attach the collar to the body while sandwiching the facing in between.
(9) Stitch all around the hem, including around the slit opening, to secure the edges.
(10) Attach the buttons at the marked button positions.
