This is a free sewing pattern for a Garrison Cap, also known in Japan as a boat-shaped hat.
The design is inspired by military-style caps and is often used in cosplay, stage costumes, or historical uniforms.
For anime or cosplay military uniforms, a smaller size is often placed on top of the head for style, so you can adjust the size to match your desired look rather than your actual head size.
This versatile pattern is suitable for everyday wear, costume-making, and as a reference for creating hat parts for other sewing projects.
After printing, align the join lines and cut along them. The paper pattern includes seam allowances (S/A), so it is ready to use as is.
(1) Serge/overlock the side edges, sew them together, and make a loop.
(2) Sew the brim pieces together into loops (both pieces).
(3) Press the seams with an iron.
(4) Sew the top and side together, then finish the edge.
(5) Sew the outer edges of the two brim pieces together and turn it right side out.
* At this step, trim the seam allowance, leaving about 2 mm.
(6) Sew the side and brim together, finish the edge, and it is complete.
