This is a sewing pattern for a China hat with a brim, inspired by styles seen in classic Chinese “jiangshi” (hopping vampire) costumes.
The design was created based on appearance rather than strict historical accuracy, making it a fun and versatile accessory for costumes.
You can enhance the look by adding decorative patterns to the brim or attaching feather ornaments to the top for extra flair.
Perfect for cosplay, Halloween, stage performances, themed events, and festivals. While not intended for everyday wear, it is an eye-catching piece for special occasions.
Suitable for beginners, this pattern can be made from satin, brocade, cotton blends, or other fabrics depending on the desired style.
After printing, align and paste the pages along the matching lines, then cut along the pattern. Seam allowances are already included, so you can start sewing immediately.
(1) Sew two base pieces together, press the seam allowance open, and topstitch.
(2) Sew another base piece to the two joined pieces, press the seam allowance open, and topstitch.
(3) Repeat steps (1) and (2) with the remaining three base pieces to make two half-circle parts.
(4) Sew the two half-circle parts together, press the seam allowance open, and topstitch.
(5) Fold the brim along the folding line first to shape it, then sew the sides together and press the seam allowance open with an iron.
(6) Sew the two brim pieces together, turn it right side out, press it into shape with an iron, and attach it to the body while sandwiching it in.
