This is a free sewing pattern and tutorial for a plumber-style beret.
It can also be adapted into your own original hat design, making it a versatile base pattern for customization.
For a smooth, rounded shape, we recommend using fusible cotton interfacing along with a slightly soft, medium-weight fabric. To achieve a more relaxed fit, make one size larger than your head measurement.
You can add decorative topstitching or insert an eyelet for extra style. This pattern is practical for beginners and suitable for everyday wear as well as costume use.
Once printed, cut along the join lines. The pattern already includes seam allowances, so it is ready to use without adding extra margins.
(1) Sew the brim pieces together, trim off the cutting line, turn it right side out, insert brim interfacing, and shape it.
(2) Apply stiff fusible interfacing to the inner band, sew it into a loop, and press.
(3) Apply fusible interfacing to the side, sew the emblem/patch in place, then sew the side seams into a loop.
(4) Sew the top and side together, press the seam allowance open with topstitching, and trim off the extra seam allowance.
(5) Sandwich the brim between the side and the inner band, then sew to secure.
