Long gloves are often needed when making cosplay costumes, so here is a pattern and basic sewing guide.
The pattern is essentially the same as a regular glove, just extended in length, but it can be surprisingly difficult to find ready-made patterns, so I have made this one available.
Please use stretch materials such as 2-way knit fabric or other elastic fabrics when making these gloves.
After printing, align the joining lines, tape the pages together, and cut out the pieces. The seam allowance is already included, so you can use the pattern as is.
The method and key points for making clean, well-shaped gloves are explained in detail with photos in the guide below.
You can find the step-by-step glove-making tutorial with photos here:
Detailed sewing steps and additional techniques can be found here.
* This pattern is designed to be sewn with a 2 mm seam allowance.
(1) Sew the dotted line on the thumb piece.
(2) Attach the thumb to the base piece.
(3) Attach one side of the three gusset pieces to the base.
(4) Attach the other side of the gusset pieces to form the glove shape.
(5) Fold the hem (bottom edge) into a triple fold and sew.
The long glove is made in the same basic way as the regular glove, so the link above can be used as a reference for the sewing process.
