This is a free sewing pattern for a side-slit, diagonal-opening China dress (cheongsam/qipao).

This dress style is frequently used for cosplay costumes, making it a high-demand pattern for costume makers.

We recommend using fabrics such as stretch satin to achieve a beautiful, form-fitting silhouette. The pattern can be customized by adjusting the slit position, dress length, or fit to create different variations.

Since the design is not extremely tight-fitting, it works well as a base pattern for further modifications. The button placement should be adjusted according to the size of the buttons used. The facing is designed to be fastened with snap buttons.

The facing pieces have a slightly unusual shape, which may seem challenging at first, but overall, the dress is not particularly difficult to sew.

After printing, align and paste the pages along the matching lines, then cut along the pattern. Seam allowances are already included, so you can start sewing immediately.

(1) Sew the darts of "Front Body" and "Back Body" and iron them down.

(2) Apply fusible interlining to "Collar" and sew together, then turn inside out and iron.

(3) Apply fusible interlining to "Front Facing" and "Back Facing", sew them together, and Serging.

(4) Serging the sides, shoulders and hem of the "Front Body", the sides, shoulders and hem of the "Back Body", and the sides of the "Sleeve".

(5) Sew the sides of "Front Body" and "Back Body" together until the slit position, and press seam allowances open with an iron.

(6) Sew the shoulders of "Front Body" and "Back Body" together and press seam allowances open with an iron.

(7) Sew the "Sleeve" together, press seam allowances open with an iron, Serging the hem of the "Sleeve", fold up 0.5 inch, and sew with a sewing machine.

(8) Sew the "Sleeve" to the "Body" and Serging the armholes.

(9) Sew the "Collar" to the "Body" while pinching in the "Facing".

(10) Fold from hem to slit position by ironing, and stitch the slit from hem to slit position.

(11) Sew on a china button at the button position.
