This is a Gathered Frill Camisole sewing pattern and tutorial.
Please use chiffon or other fabrics with good drape for the gathered frill part.
You can also make it look cute by adjusting the gathering length to add more volume.
This camisole can be finished very beautifully by using an overlock (serger) sewing machine.
After printing, align and glue the pages together along the assembly lines, then cut out the pattern pieces.
Seam allowances are already included in the pattern, so you can use it as is.
(1) Sew the side seams of the body with a sewing machine, then serge/overlock the seam allowances.
How to Serge/overlock (sewing machine & overlock sewing machine). Please refer to this page.
(2) Finish the hem of the body using a narrow double-fold hem with a sewing machine, or a rolled hem with an overlock machine.
(3) Sew the two ruffle pieces together, finish the seam allowances, and join them into loops.
(4) Finish the hems of the ruffles using a narrow double-fold hem or a rolled hem.
*When using a rolled hem on an overlock machine, set the dial to the widest setting to create more volume.
(5) Add gathers to the upper edge of the ruffles.
How to make gathers using a sewing machine. Please refer to this page.
*If using an overlock machine, a gather setting of about 1.5 works well.
(6) Sew the side seams of the band together, then press with an iron to shape it and make it easier to insert the ruffles.
*At this stage, leave an opening on one side of the band for inserting the elastic.
(7) Sew the gathered ruffles in order starting from the first tier, and for the fourth tier, stitch it while sandwiching it inside the band.
(8) Finish the shoulder straps on the bias and attach them at the marked attachment points.
*If you use commercially available bra straps for the shoulder straps, make loops at the attachment points in advance.
(9) Insert elastic into the inside of the band and adjust the fit.
