This is a sewing pattern for a deerstalker hat, also known as a Holmes hat. It has brims on both the front and back.
The hat also has earflaps on both sides.
As the name “Holmes hat” suggests, it is the famous hat worn by Sherlock Holmes.
You can use it as a cosplay accessory or as a stylish item for going out.
After printing, join the pattern pieces along the connection lines and cut them out. Seam allowances are already included, so you can use the pattern as it is.
* If the fabric is thin, attach fusible interfacing to the lining.
* After topstitching, trim off any extra seam allowance.
(1) Sew two top pieces together, press the seam allowance open, and sew topstitching along the seam.
(2) Sew one more top piece to the joined part from (1), press the seam allowance open, and topstitch.
(3) Repeat steps (1) and (2) with the remaining three top pieces to make a half-circle part.
(4) Sew the two half-circle parts together, press the seam allowance open, and topstitch.
(5) Sew the side edges of the inner band together to make a loop. Press it diagonally with an iron to form a bias shape, and topstitch along the folded line.
(6) Sew the brim pieces together, insert the brim interfacing, and secure it with topstitching.
(7) Sandwich the strings between the earflap pieces, sew them together, turn right side out, and shape them with an iron.
* When turning right side out, trim off any thick seam allowance and settle the edge with topstitching.
(8) Baste the brim and earflaps to the top, sandwich them with the inner band, and sew all together to finish.
